MEMBERSHIP

Whether you are a student or a pensioner, you are welcome to join our society. Annual membership fees are listed below. Officers and council members are elected at the Annual General Meeting.

As a member you are entitled to a copy of the Transactions on publication.  In 2023, volume 114 was produced to celebrate the Society's 140th anniversary. Volume 115 was finalised in the summer of 2025 and has recently been distributed to members.

The Society also arranges conferences, which are free to members. There is a small charge to non-members.  In 2024, our conference was held at The Friends Meeting House in Manchester and featured several excellent speakers. We are happy to report that the event was well attended and a great success.

Throughout the year we have regular Zoom meetings on topics of interest to members and we also organise visits to historic and archaeological sites.  All these are included in your membership.

During 2024,  the majority of the Society's Transactions have been digitised (a total of 106 volumes from 1883 to 2006), and these are now  available to our members on this website.  They can be found in the Members area at the foot of the page.

Members can also purchase all past volumes of Transactions, subject to availability, at a preferential rate. Details available on request.

The society aims to increase the number of visits and also produce a newsletter.
